Salary and Benefits

  • Detention Officer:  $37,411.92
  • Deputy Sheriff:      $41,299.44

Medical and Dental

Annual Leave

  • 1st year - 40 hours
  • 2 to 4 years - 80 hours
  • 5 to 9 years - 96 hours

P.O.S.T Certification / Incentive Pay

  • FTO/JTO:                      5% Increase (While a Member of                                                 the FTEP/JTEP)
  • Shift Differential Pay      $1 Per Hour Increase for Night                                                    Shift (Patrol and Jail)
  • SWAT                            10% Increase
  • K-9                                10% Increase (Plus Kennel Pay)
  • Juvenile/CID                  On Call Pay Incentives

Retirement

Overtime Pay

After 86 hours in a biweekly period.

Work Cycle

  • 84 Hour Work Cycle Every Two Weeks. 
  • Day Shift:        5:30 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Night Shift:      5:30 PM - 5:30 AM
  • 12-12 Shift:     12:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Fitness Center

Fitness Center is available to the officers 24 hours daily and is geared towards strength and cardiovascular training.

Deputy Sheriff

Deputy Sheriff duties include but are not limited to patrolling the county, protecting the public, and enforcing the laws of the State of Georgia through arrest or other appropriate means.

In addition, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office provides the following equipment for all Deputies:

  • All uniforms provided
  • ASP Baton
  • Bulletproof vest
  • Glock.45 caliber primary weapon
  • Handcuffs
  • Mobile data terminal (MDT)
  • O.C. Spray
  • Portable Radio
  • Shotgun
  • Take home patrol car (after sucessful completion of the FTO program)
  • Taser ECD
  • Total uniform apparel to include boots and leather duty gear
  • Video/audio camera for patrol car

DETENTION OFFICER (JAILER)

Detention Officer duties are to oversee and provide safety for inmates, staff, and the Paulding County Jail.

In addition, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office provides the following equipment for Detention Officers:

  • All uniforms provided
  • Extensive training for job proficiency
  • Handcuffs
  • O.C. Spray
  • Portable Radio
  • Taser ECD
  • Total uniform apparel including boots and leather duty gear
